Transformation: Becoming Sane, Acting Crazy

TransformationI’ve written about, breaking down to break through, and the ugly stages a person goes through, when they’re going through deep therapy or trauma of some kind: Pluto And The Breaking Down, Rotting Person In Process Of Transformation

I cam across, Kazimierz Dabrowski’s work, last year.  I think his ideas are important to consider. He validates my personal observations, anyway.

When issues arise, we rush to medicate (children, particularly). It’s possible this action delays healing. Or worse, it can take a you so far down the wrong road, you can no longer find yourself. Your true self, I mean.

Collectively speaking, I think we’d have better results if we expanded our comfort zones.  Looking perfect on Instagram is anathema to coming to understand your true nature.

Astrology can help with this, tremendously, as can interacting with others, which is something I’m trying to illustrate with my recent posts.  Sometimes, you just need to see yourself through another person’s eyes.

Here’s the meaty high points on this:

Kazimierz Dabrowski’s challenged to the traditional view of mental health, which equates it with the absence of mental disorders. Dabrowski argued that certain states often labeled as pathological, such as overexcitability and many neuroses, are actually necessary for personality development and are not necessarily indicative of illness. He maintained that these states, while potentially challenging, contribute to clear, multi-sided development and are essential components of a well-rounded mental health.

Traditional View: The prevailing understanding of mental health has often focused on the absence of mental illness or disorder. This view is common among both lay people and mental health professionals. Dabrowski’s Counterpoint: Dabrowski challenged this notion by suggesting that many conditions traditionally classified as pathological are actually vital for healthy personality development. Examples: He specifically pointed to states like overexcitability and many neuroses as examples of conditions that, while potentially difficult to manage, are necessary for clear, multi-sided development. Not Pathological: Dabrowski argued that these states are not inherently pathological, but rather a normal part of the process of growth and development. Importance for Mental Health: He believed that these states are actually essential components of mental health, contributing to a well-rounded and developed personality. Differentiating Pathological Conditions: Dabrowski acknowledged that some conditions, like psychopathy and mental retardation, are truly pathological because they impede multi-level development. Caution Against Stereotyping: He cautioned against automatically labeling mental disorders as unhealthy and advocated for a more nuanced understanding of mental states.

We know, from studying astrology, outer planet transits can throw a person for a loop.  A year of crying, for example. A year of erratic behavior, or isolation or whatever.  I just want to present this, to be considered. I can tell you this for sure: if you keep your friends (and family), you will see them go through things over the years. You may want to think twice about tagging them, “crazy”, because chances are, you’ll go through a period like this yourself.

Qualities Of Authentically Mentally Healthy People

Granted, I am not a psychologist. But I have been on the job from roughly 35 years and have numerous clients, I’ve worked with over the course of decades. I never diagnose anyone with anything. I just help them through their current issue.  I know many people who were shaky in their early 20’s, who are solid in their 30’s and stay that way.

What do you think?  Have you ever gone offroad and found your way back?  Have you seen someone else do this? Also, have you seem someone taken offroad at such a young age, it’s nearly impossible for them to recover? To round this out, have you seen a person, take the hard road and prevail?
